Learning Outcome #1

Through the revision process of my chosen writing project, focused on both global and local revisions, I felt as though I improved significantly since the beginning of the semester. Though I thought my rough draft was well written and needed little revision I still found a bundle of errors. First I identified a few ideas and claim sentences in my essay that could either be moved or removed entirely. Then after that, I develop those ideas that I identified and to them into an already existant format. For me, learning how to really annotate and look through texts has helped me identify global problems in my own writing. This shows that I can identify specific places that work in an argument and which do not. It shows that I can adapt and work with the ideas I have given myself. When I work with local edits I always have someone read it out loud to me so I can see what it sounds like. Another thing I do with local edits is I put it through a voice program so it reads the piece to me like it would if someone were to read it to me. This way there is no variation in how someone would read a passage, it is uniform. This shows that resourceful, that I can use unique and effective techniques to identify problems in sentence structure and general conventions.
