Do you see any patterns?

One pattern in particular keeps popping up in this paragraph is that when I introduced some ideas, I went off and started to talk about something else that did not pertain to the idea. Then I would come back to the idea very abruptly in the middle of nowhere.

Do you rely on certain devices more than others?

I surely do rely on one type of device more that others. That device is a loose sentence. A loose sentence is one where the main clause is placed at the start of the sentence. This type of sentence can be useful used in small increments, but when used a lot in a piece it starts to get repetitive and it loses it effective.

Are there any passages that are hard to follow–and if so, can you make them easier to read by trying any of the other devices discussed in this chapter?

Yes, a lot. The only way I can see to make my sentences more clear and easier to read is to re-work them in a way that is logical and proceeds forward with no kinks.
