Blog #15

For this blog post I focused on chapter 15 of “They Say I Say”. In this chapter the authors outline what it takes to be able to connect your writing meaningfully to a piece of literature. Showing a writer that they need to say why what they say matters, why others should care, and why it needs to be said in the first place. The reason I chose to read this chapter was because I have recently been having trouble getting my words out in a manner that people can understand them and connect to them. Usually what I say is a mess of ideas and phrases that make sense to me, but do not for the person reading the paper. I wanted to be able to make those connections and flow smoothly from quote to reasoning without fault. What I have done in my revisions after reading this chapter is I have gone through all of my arguments and tried to make them transition well from the quote. What I want to do before this essay is due is to go back and really try to understand what each author or speaker is trying to say. This will give me a better understanding of them, and will give me more context to base my argument off of.
