For this learning outcome, I am going to discuss the way I used evidence and quotes in my provided essay. The reason I chose this essay was that I believe that this essay has the best examples and the best integration of evidence of all my essays. In particular, the quote that I picked out referencing Yo-Yo Ma is:
“The arts teach us that there is something that connects us all and is bigger than each of us.”
I had placed this quote in the section of my essay in which I talk about the topic of empathy. Not only did I discuss the place that art has in interpreting different cultures, but I connected it the field of pharmacy in a smooth logical manner. Early on in my writing, I had been stuck in the mentality of the quote, explanation of the quote, my ideas. Differentiating my ideas from the quote summary was a difficult task. It was not until I found out that I could explain the quote through my own ideas. Contrasting with different ideas, weaving my own thoughts into a sort of summary that would make sure a reader would get the most out of the quote.
